Once Upon a Time

Once Upon A Time is a project that is running throughout 2020, with various events happening through the year. The first of these events has already happened, it was our annual lantern parade, which was once upon a time themed. For this project, we are working with B-arts who are based at Hartshill in Stoke.

We had a series of workshops that were held here at The Hub, where we built the lanterns from willow, tissue paper, PVA glue and lots of imagination.

We were also joined by Art Brasil who held samba workshops with our young people in the run up to the parade.

Then, on parade night, we all dressed up warm, everyone collected their lanterns they had made, we lit them up and paraded around the streets of Fegg Hayes. At the front of our parade, we had Art Brasil and a group of young people samba drumming so we could keep the beat. Along the way, many local residents came to their doorstep to watch and we passed by their houses.

You may have already noticed this if you looked closely at some of the lanterns on the photograph on the project page, we had lots of wonderful fairytale themed lanterns. If you didn't spot them, we have put lots more photographs from the event on our gallery page. If you came along, see if you can spot yourself.
